Walk or run for a little over three miles. Gain the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to promote early detection of lung cancer—the main cause of cancer death in the United States, and the second most common cancer in the nation. (And get a nifty T-shirt, too.)
Join Team Einstein Sunday, November 1, at the 10th Annual Philadelphia Free to Breathe 5K Run/Walk, which steps off from Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park. The event starts at 8 a.m., and is sponsored by Einstein Healthcare Network. Free to Breathe is “a partnership of lung cancer survivors, advocates, researchers, healthcare professionals and industry leaders.”
Einstein is committed to diagnosing lung cancer at the earliest possible stage. Right now, early diagnosis occurs in only about 15 percent of all lung cancer cases. The consequences of late diagnosis are particularly grim. By the time lung cancer has spread beyond the lungs, the five-year survival rate is just four percent.
As a Free to Breathe Fundraising Team, we can show the world that it’s time to make surviving lung cancer the expectation, not the exception.
There are three ways you can help us make this vision a reality. Navigate to this website, and:
- Click on the “Donate” button to support our fundraising efforts

The money we raise together through Free to Breathe is needed to fund vital research and patient programs that will save lives. We’ll have a lot of fun together as a team, but the real reward will be raising funds that affect more lives.
Please donate today and consider joining the Einstein team. Invite your friends to do the same. We can’t wait to celebrate our successes with you.
